Oxycodone perscribed within 1997...will it still work effectively?

I know it doesn't hurt to try, but, i was wondering if it would do me any good for my back dull pain. Also some Temazepam from back in '03?
Answers:
03 is probably fine. the 1997 one will be weaker. just beckon a pharmacy and ask a pharmacist. they answer these questions all the time for me
They are most likely both expired already...you shouldn't take expired meds. Source(s): Pharmacy Tech
most of those are only good for one year
I would just christen the pharmacy they will know better than anyone!
Most medications such as antibiotics loose their strength over time. This is why the discard date is usually attached to side of bottle. Most are one year, but some medication such as narcotics loose their strength sooner and you are referring to a narcotic that is over 10 yrs. old. Best advice would be to turn back to physician in hopes of another prescription, maybe ones that will work better or at lowest possible be more potent. The source of your pain for getting the prescription in the first place may have changed. There are abundant reasons for back pain and your injury or condition may own worsened.
