Can someone who have be through profoundly of trauma restore your health their productive IQ?

In other words does the damage done to the brain from emotional trauma, especially repeated trauma, permanent, or can it be heal and the brain returned to the same functionality?
Answers:
Emotional trauma does not lower your IQ- it may mess up your emotions, but it does not affect your IQ. Closed come first injury is a different matter. Recovery depends on the severity of the trauma, the age of the injured person, lots of factors. I enjoy had patients comatose for more than 6 months go to college a couple of years later. There is not usually physical prejudice done to the brain - that could decrease intelligence - because of emotional trauma.

IQ, at least as most culture think of it, is a number on a scale, telling you how smart you are, discovered by taking a testing composed of a bunch of hard multiple-choice questions.

There can be many reason for someone to do badly on an IQ test so that it doesn't accurately reflect their true intelligence. I won't seize into all of them here, most of them don't relate. :D
However, psychological trauma can cause various problems near (yes, others said it first) concentration and/or memory. And one person could score very different score on an IQ test before vs. after trauma, and after they've recovered from the trauma.
Also, a person subjected to such trauma may not be as interested within the things they once were, (such as academic pursuits) and therefore may not *seem* as smart to others, but they enjoy the same *potential* to learn as they always did.

One exception I can regard of to this is schizophrenia. In severe cases, intelligence is probably affected. And, at least according to the wikipedia article :D, "Childhood experiences of abuse or trauma enjoy also been implicated as risk factors for a diagnosis of schizophrenia later surrounded by life." Source(s): I hope I didn't ramble *too* much :D

What Cadillac said. Also, the ability to concentrate/memorize would most likely be due to troubled sleep, chemical imbalace, etc.. all due to wild trauma, and will subside over time.
Emotional trauma will not effect IQ. It will own an effect on personality and outlook, but the IQ remains intact. Overcoming the emotions will, with time reveal that comparatively readily. Physical trauma to the brain can effect IQ.
I was in a vehicle accident not long ago, and I had post concussive syndrome where I have to go through a battery of cognitive tests including IQ trialling before and after treatment. In such cases of trauma, 99% of patients reportedly get back to their resourceful status of IQ (hopefully I'm okay now). But the difference was marked, probably like 30 points or so difference.
I have never heard of emotional trauma affecting IQ. Intelligence and emotion are two separate entities altogether.
