500mg of codeine??
i take opiates a lot and ive never had any character of bad reaction. but the other night i took the superlative dose of codeine ive ever takin, i wasnt trying to kill myself,
i broke out into hives and my whole upper body was pitch-black red, my face almost turned purple, and i had a horrible itch.
this is the first time ive ever had a response to codeine like that is it cuz i took it in a really soaring dose. will this ever happen again if i take it again [in a much lower dose] whats a lethal dose for the average creature, did i come close. i have a really high tolerence. i didnt hardly touch anything that night.

hhmmm, sounds route advanced. honestly if i were u, i would talk to my doc and instead of telling ur doc that u would want to kill in cold blood urself, i would say that u were not paying attention of ur each day doses and u were over dosed and thus the reaction starts and that is where on earth u tell him the symptoms of reactions and ask him the questions. but my thought is that ur probably allergic so something contained by the drugs and the doc would probably thought that since ur not taking too much of the ingredient that the doc has perscribed for yea, it wouldnt have any affect to your body, unless over dose it like u did that hours of darkness. my solution, live ur life and try to get an allergy test to see wut r u allergic to and draw from drugs so that u wont have symptoms like that again....... or u can just verbs taking those tiny doses ur useing and just forget everything that happened that night. lol

You should shift to your doctor to check on this reaction of yours. Taking codeine again may trigger the same response, if this is the one responsible for it.
Well codeine is not actually an opiate. your body metabolizes it into one but its not considered one, and it is not even a schedule II drug resembling most pain pills like oxys, and percocet, it is considered a schedule III. You clearly took too much, and you could even be allergic to something in it. You need to talk to whoever prescribed it to you, if you are officially taking it. If not I dont know what to tell you. The lethal dose is different for everyone. Even if you have a tolerance it doesnt concern anyone can take too much one day and die. IIRC the fatal dosage of codeine surrounded by 50% of people is 800mg.
remeber, codeine is a prodrug for morphine, it needs to be made into morphine by liver, at about 1:10 ratio.
but, the entity is, your liver can only handle about 400mg of codeine per 8 hours. Taking anymore next that is just fruitless, dangerous and liable to offer you more side effects without any gain in pain relife or euphoria.
