You need a 40% solution (1000ml). You have a 70% solution and a 20% solution available. How much of each solution will you inevitability

a. 400ml (70%), 600ml (20%)
b. 600ml (70%), 400ml (20%)
c. 500ml of each

Solve using the alligation method.

A. 400 ml of 70% solution and 600 ml of 20% solution.


highly developed % solution = final % - lower % = 40 - 20 = 20 parts = 2

lower % solution = higher % - final % = 70 - 40 = 30 parts = 3

1000 ml divided by 5 = 200

Higher % = 200 x 2 = 400 ml
Lower % = 200 x 3 = 600 ml
