Question for nurses or race who know?

if i have a bachelors degree in biology cand i be a nurse. The classes are practically like peas in a pod actually more so can i just go straight taking the registered nurses oral exam
Answers:
Unfortunately, you can no longer "challenge" the nursing boards. Several years ago, some states allowed people to register and take the nursing boards w/o formal training; if you passed, you got your license. This is no longer the defence in any of the states. In order to register for the boards, you must have completed a nursing program (they require documentation for registration). As to your second grill, as a biology major, you very well may own the prereqs necessary to apply to a nursing program. You have basically 2 option: apply to an associate RN program, which takes two years OR get your BSN (bachelor's of nursing). Many schools hold accelerated BSN programs for people who already have a bachelors--this might be the best odds for you, but it depends on what your goals are.
Hey this is me exactly! :-)

In IL, there are 2 universities that proffer an accelerated MASTERS program in nursing for those with a non-nursing bachelors level. The pre-requites include organic, chemisry, and biology, all of which we have taken. The GRE is also required. Check your state for similar programs.

I intuitively did not want to do another bachelors degree because I worked SO hard on it! I'd feel my B.S. within Bio was a waste. So I found this masters, and will start next year 2010.
