Of the OTC pain relievers, which is best for a headache- ibuprofen or tylenol? I cannot take aspirin.

Are you allergic to aspirin? Because if you are, you cannot take ibuprofen. So, your best bet is Tylenol. If you are allergic to aspirin, you shouldn't try Aleve (naproxen) either. Personally, I prefer ibuprofen. Works better for my headache, unless its associated with my menstrual cycle. For those, I have to use naproxen. Source(s): I'm a pharmacist and a patient. Hate headache.
drink lots of marine and take a pranayama session ,these things 'll work a lot than medicines do for a long occupancy effect
tylenol, because approaching aspirin, ibuprofen is harsh on the stomach, especially when it;s not taken with enough marine, or food sometimes. you could try taking vitamin b2 as a preventative, thats what my neurologist just prescribed to me... but it usually makes your pee neon yellow =P
If you cannot take Aspirin, I would push for on taking Tylenol (acetaminophen).
This is because ibuprofen is in the same class as drugs as aspirin (NSAIDs). I'm not sure why you cant take aspirin, so dance for the tylenol.
Also, if taken long term, ibuprofen can cause gastrointestinal problems (eg stomach ulcers, bleeding). Tylenol taken long possession will not cause this problem.
Look on www.webmd.com, they normally have comparisons for that type of thing.
Naproxen (Aleve) is rated as the best for curing headaches, then ibuprofen (Advil), afterwards acetominophen (Tylenol).
Acetominophen is best for fever and chills and is easier on the stomach than the other two. Ibuprofen is the best at reducing inflamation, but if you have a sensitive stomach, more than one may cause you some discomfort. Source(s): http://productreviewratings.com/2009/01/…
