Doctor or Psychologist plz. Heart Palpatations near Zoloft, why so desperate?
In all the side effects lists on every site I look at, heart palpatations for Zoloft are under the "greatly serious" side effects list that you shoud contact your doctor for. I just started taking Zoloft last darkness (I work nights), and at work tonight I briefly had semi-painful heart palpatations for about 5 minutes. I'm not sure if it's from the medication or not but I would assume so since I just started it.
I see that Serotonin Syndrome have palpatations or increased heart rate as a symptom, is that why it's in that list? Zoloft is the only med I lug and Serotonin Syndrome is usually when mixing meds. I just want to know if I should continue taking this and see if the problem continues. Just making sure i'm not damaging my heart or something lol.
So I guess my put somebody through the mill is, why are palpatations a "very serious" side effect? Some sites even say if they happen to stop taking it at once.
Answers:
If you are under treatment from a PSYCHOLOGIST, then ask to be seen by a PSYCHIATRIST. A Psychiatrist is a fully-licensed Medical Doctor (MD) who happen to specialize in problems of the mind. A Psychiatrist is licensed to write prescriptions; a Psychologist is NOT licensed to writer prescriptions.
BUT . . . Most Psychologists work under the supervision of a Psychiatrist, and they can write certain prescription while beneath the supervision of a Psychiatrist.
So if you got the Zoloft prescription from a Psychologist, as to bn seen directly by the supervising Psychiatrist. the Psychiatrist is The Medical Doctor you should be seeing for problems like this.
