Where do doctors procure their cocaine from?
cocaine is a schedule 2 drug, which means it can be prescribed. cocaine is used in prescription, for eye, nose and throat surgery.
my question is, with them using such small amounts, where on earth is it obtained for medical use?
do the government provide the medical institutes with cocaine which they own seized?
do the medical institutes buy the cocaine from colombian and peruvian insurgents and crime bosses?
just where does it come from?
i assume using seized cocaine would be dangerous because its never going to be 100% cocaine.
and for such a small amount to be used, surrounded by rare cases, the long, drawn out process of cocaine production seems a silly idea when nearby are other equally effective anaesthetic products on the market.

I don't think they use the stuff that they confiscate from drug busts. I think some pharmaceutical companies put together it for them.
I expect the process to produce medical status cocaine is as long and drawn out a process as it is to produce other anesthetics, so it wouldn't be a silly idea.
I can't speak for all community physicians (family practitioners, pediatricians, internists, etc.) but keeping cocaine contained by the office is more hassle than it is worth. I would have liked to hold a small amount on hand to ease the pain of an occasional child need a myringotomy - lancing the ear drum to let out the pus. So you need an extra DEA warrant for your practice, not just you. Then you need to provide a secure storage place, and document where on earth the key is kept and who has access, and record made contained by a log book every time the cabinet is open.
Having complied with all that, and probably other stuff I have forgotten, you just call your pharmacy supplier and demand the cocaine. The cocaine is made by a reputable pharmaceutical manufacturer, not in the garage of some dealer.
I suppose ENT specialists and a few others hold a small bottle of cocaine drops in their offices. No one keeps a generous amount, and it's certainly not worth trying to break in to steal it. It's not crack and you don't get much of a hit if you drink it. Source(s): Retired pediatrician

Why is cocaine a class 2 and weed is a class 1? I know more people that got strength benefits from weed, than coke. And then, why do people with cocaine receive prison time, but people with weed get fines.
There is an graceful way to test it to make sure of it's purity. I'm sure our system has no issue finding mass amounts of pure cocaine. If a person on the street can get it, so can the gov't.
It's probably traded for something, or the $ from 'the period of war on drugs' is going towards it. F U Nixon!
