yeah. i'm a pharmacy tech. rx's are written in a sorta code. its short hand latin, sorta. there should be the first name of the drug. quantity, and then some directions. could look like this...1 po qd, or 2 gts bid and qhs. consent to me know what it says and i'll translate. Source(s): pharm tech

I know some retail pharmacies get prescriptions electronically these days from some docs. Hospitals are moving toward a electronic order process where the MD types in what they want. It solves a lot of problems. It creates some current ones as well as the human factor is always a variable.
