How to become a Cardiologist within New York City?

I am starting my first year at hunter college in NYC.
My major is Biochemistry? ( is that the right major?)
So after graduate what should i do?
What is residency and how long is it in New York?

Yea, biochemistry is the major most people steal to be a doctor. You can major in anything though, you just entail to take the required classes for medical school. After, graduating college you should own already taken your MCATs and have a good score on that. You apply to medical conservatory with your MCATs and recommendations and volunteer work.etc You go to med academy,for 4 years then you are a M.D. Then residency, then your on your own.

Residency is training for your specialty; pediatrics, surgery, Ob/Gyn and so on. It takes 2-7 years depending on your specialty. Specialties come and go in residency time. Source(s): knowledge
