In most places, there is no formal education required. All the work you do will be trained, on the situation. You have to have a a strong stomach and a strong back. You enjoy to be meticulous in your record keeping and work habits. You will be handling evidence. You hold to have a very clean environment check.
It is a physically and emotionally demanding job, and my autopsy assistants are grossly underpaid, in my opinion.
