Stent for distal ureter stone?
My dr. wants to put a stent in for my kidney stone thats stuck in my ureter. My examine is once they put the stent in how long does it stay in? I think they depart it in till the stone comes out but how long does that gererally take? Are we talking approaching days or weeks.??
Answers:
A stent is usually placed AFTER the stone is broken up, either by lithotripsy or a laser catheter. The purpose of the stent is to allow the stent fragments to pass more easily.
Mine stayed surrounded by about 10-14 days. Not a lot of fun.
When you go to the bureau for removal, take two pain pills 30-45 minutes before your appointment and tolerate someone else drive. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. Source(s): too plentiful stones, too many stents
Ask your doctor about endoscopic lithotripsy.
