What are the usual surgeon fees for implant a catheter losing the chest skin?
The catheter will be a port-a-cath with valve to be placed under the chest skin and connected to the subclavian artery in the heart. I need to know what the usual fees are including anesthetist and surgeon assistant to present the budget to my insurance company. (Only the fees please, without catheter and the hospital). Thank you really much
Answers:
You need to ask your surgeon. Fees vary by physician and location.
Most of the time, the fees are immaterial. Your insurance company have already set fees for each procedure, and that is what the surgeon gets, regardless of what he/she charges.
Ditto for other personnel involved contained by the case.
(a "Swan" is different - that's a pulmonary artery catheter, and is used to measure pressures in the heart)
I though that you be talking about a urinary catheter, lol. It's just referred to a as a swan. and single the hospital can really tell you. it varies a lot
