There's honestly not really a way to tell for sure unless they notify you or you see them.
Antidepressants do not generally have that effect. They aren't really "happy" pills, as some relatives refer to them. I don't want to scare you, but I will just tell you roughly speaking my situation with my mother. She sometimes acts the way you describe...healthy and giddy and "loves everyone"...that isn't her normal personality that she had when I be growing up, so it concerned me. She now lives with me (she is 70) and a couple of times when she had gone out shopping or something, I snooped around contained by her room...Not trying to be nosy, but just concerned about her. Lo and behold, I found a gallon carafe of vodka "hidden" in a bag in her closet. It be about half empty. I hold never known her to drink in the past, but plainly she does now. I didn't say anything to her about it. If I ever see that she is stumbling around or appears more drunk than lately "happy", I will have to intervene. Perhaps alcohol consumption is a possible cause of your mom's "happy" behavior, too?
does she sleep alot!!
No that to be sure does not sound like your mother is on anti depressants. Antidepressants are mood stabilizers. They are meant to stop that manner of thing.
So in other words you are maxim it is unusual for your mom to be happy and you not only find it annoying but because of this you have come to the conclusion that she must be on meds? Source(s): Was merely wondering because that is what it sounds like you are saying.
Why not just ask?
I'm on antidepressants, and in that really is no way to tell if someone is on them as they affect everyone differently. Also, the type of antidepressant you're on will affect your behaviour. I myself am on Fluoxetine (Prozac) and it largely doesn't effect my general behaviour at all (it also doesn't appear to make me happier, but that's something I'll have to talk to my doctor just about!). My girlfriend was on Citalopram, and they gave her mood swings rather than a steady, consistent mood. Other antidepressants, such as Diazepam, can engender people sleep a lot or make them appear 'spaced out' or apathetic.

If you are worried going on for your mother and whether or not she may be on them, I would suggest you try talking to her and asking her if she wants to talk going on for anything.

Hope I've been of some help. Source(s): I am on antidepressants, my mother is on antidepressants, a few of my friends are on antidepressants and my father and my girlfriend both used to be on antidepressants, so I have like mad of experience with them!
