Most UK doctors work for the NHS and therefore are employed in lean times whereas in the states they rely on insurance to settle up their way via the Hospitals... dodgy in lean times as insurance is one of the first things that goes by the board when folk are skint.
Doctors surrounded by the UK do not have the personal worry of the cost of treating a patient. Generally Doctors approaching the (UK)NHS system. There are always comments and moans by doctors, patients, Hospital Authorities, and Governments who would rather spend our money on armaments, or give it away to third world tyrants to buy Mercedes cars next to.
Our (British) National Health System is very good and COSTS LESS PER GDP(gross national product) per head of population than the American non existing NHS which the President Obama will transmutation and American people will be better off for it. Medicare are concerned with making money first and final. Boot them out of the system!

UK doctors treat patients. US doctors treat conditions and label a lot more money doing it.
My father is a Doctor and is American, but he has lived here in the UK for many years, he say that medicine is very money orientated and one of the other posters above has it exactly, contained by the US they treat the condition, in the UK we treat the patient, although I fear contained by the future we will become more like the US- god help us!
