Codeine-Promethazine cough syrup side effect?

I recently got prescirbed the stuff for a horrible cough that I have. It works economically, but I notice that about an hour after I dose I get a loud ringing surrounded by my ears, my vision fades in and out, and if I stand up I am terrifically prone to falling/passing out for no longer than a few seconds. After that I feel absolutely fine. Is this a conventional side effect of promethazine, or is this something to be worried about?

Prometh is a very strong sedative. The side effects you are experiencing are adjectives for this drug. Smoking will definitely increase these effects and you should really try to reduce or even quit smoking while using this medicine.
Both the meds in your cough syrup are narcotic. You should cart it only before you are getting ready to not tell the truth down, and dont take more than the directed dose. And yes, smoking will enhance the narcotic effects.
that is very adjectives with this codeine. the same thing happen with me. the only thing you can really do is newly take smaller doses, but maybe you don't want to do that?
