other than schooling what are the other requirements that I have to meet?...Is at hand a criminal background check? regular STD checks?, etc. any other useful information will be appreciated :)

Nope, no checks.
when you apply for licensure (boards) you will have to consent to a conditions check. In NC I had to submit fingerprints, although in FL, I did not.
STD checks- No. As far as communicable diseases- your place of employment may have a few requirements- carrying out tests or immunizations like hepB- but as far as just getting licensed- no.
In order to be employed near is a background check, yes. You also have to have a catalogue of all your immunizations and titers. You need to be capable of lift 40-50 lbs as well, if you plan on working at the bedside. Source(s): I am an RN
