Medical explanation for this? Please answer?

Long story short: There was this guy, whom I really liked. However, it didn't go anywhere. It be one of those 'could have been situations.'

Now, he's gone and I will not be seeing him around anymore ( I will spare you the details, they aren't important.)

Every time I chew over about the whole situation and picture it all surrounded by my head, I get this weird premonition in my stomach. It's not a sick feeling. It's just a 'wrong' notion. Like something is off.

I'm just wondering what the explanation for this is, scientifically. What physically gives me that offended feeling by just thinking about it. This is the solely situation where that every happens when I think abt it.

(It's not matching feeling you get when you are about to cry.)

It sounds to me approaching you are activating your sympathetic nervous system! There are two branches of your autonomic nervous system (the fragment of your nervous system that functions below a conscious level). They are the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions. The parasympathetic is nicknamed the "rest and digest" branch, since it is mainly live in times that you are resting and going through daily activities. The sympathetic branch is nickname "fight or flight" and is activated during times of stress, excitement, or in your defence, emotional upheaval!

You ever notice that when you are scared you consistency weird in your stomach? That is because your sympathetic nervous system halt digestion and redirects energy/blood flow to your muscles, lungs, and heart (fight or flight, remember). This is an evolutionary tool that probably helped us run away from saber tooth tigers at some point in time.

Other signs of sympathetic activation are heightened heart rate, respiratory rate, blood sugar, and cortisol level. You can blame it on the pesky hormone epinephrine (aka adrenaline). Source(s): Medical School/undergrad degree in Biology
You probably have a mild grip of Broken Heart Syndrome.

I'm no expert about this condition, so here are some links:
