What's the procedure close to when getting an MRI on the knees.?

I'm getting an MRI tomorrow on my right knee and was wondering what exactly they do. Do I get a shot? Is it approaching and x-ray? How long does it take? Does it hurt?

It's extremely painful. The doctors have to inject you with dye to properly notice your blood flow. The MRI itself is a cakewalk, but the needle they use for the dye is enormous and it goes within under your kneecap and stays there for a while making spurting and crunching noises.
I had an MRI done on my right shin a few years ago. I had a mean fall up the stairs at my house. Yes, up the stairs. At first I didn't know that I had a hairline fracture. After about 3 months I be in agony. I went to my family Dr. and have the initial x-ray. Since the fracture was so tiny, I was sent to the hospital for an MRI. I had to drink a unlikeable concoction that had the dyes in it. No shots for me. I couldn't eat until that time since I to drink the goo, as I like to call it. I had to lay on the table that slides into the tool. This isn't fun if you're claustrophobic. I just closed my eyes and thought of something happy.

It's not painful but you won't be too thankful if you have to do the same things I did. I was within a pretty crabby mood when I left. If you have to drink the goo, just pinch your antenna and down it. Don't give it a chance to sit on your tongue.

Good luck and I hope everything goes very well for you!
I had one on my knee final in December due to a subluxated kneecap. There was no shot or drink involved for dye. It's really freaking loud, though, and unfortunately the headset they gave me to block out noise/distract me only had one functional ear. So I would recommend snagging some earplugs up to that time you go just in luggage. There is no pain involved...it's just tedious since you enjoy to lie there for awhile. The worst part in the order of the whole thing was that I have to take my nose stud out and the hole closed up partially. :P So don't verbs about it. You should be fine.
