Acetaminophen overdose?
i took two extra strength tylenols at 10:20 pm ( each one has 500 mg acetaminophen).....at around 1:30 am ( only 3 hours later) i took one vicodin which also have 500 mg acetaminophen
is it possible that i overdosed and am i in danger of liver failure or am i purely worrying too much
Answers:
Don't worry, the dosage is not life-threatening. But don't exceed the recommended dosage of the drug. However, some people are addicted to acetaminophen and would not mind taking 1,500 mg a day.
Tylenol poisoning of the liver is usually is done surrounded by increments. You have to kill off more than partly of your liver before you notice a problem, and by then your adjectives is not so good. Lose a chunk now and then, it adjectives adds up.
A fraction of the tylenol (acetaminophen) is converted to a toxic chemical(NAPQ).
A substance produced by the liver called glutathione can react near NAPQ and this protects the liver cells. The liver cam make glutathione only so hastily, and it can store only so much, your history of alcohol/drug use determines your glutathione 'credit score'.
So, the answer is not "such and such" is safe, when that depends totally on you and your history. Alcohol use increases the toxicity..
The following link from the Merck Manual is informative, but since it is published by a drug company does not properly guardedness about the risks in terms of dosage. Bad for sale.

You should be fine.
The recommened dosage is 500 - 1000mg every 4 hours.
You took 500mg 3 hours later, which is within the safe check.
But it is good that you are worrying about it, since acetaminophen OD can have serious results (eg death).
ull be fine, dont filch anymore!
