A little oblige? About microbes reproduction cycles and antibiotics?

(A short explanation as for why I am asking below, if you care)

I'm not sure what the exact term is but I'm looking for how long each specific bacteria take to reproduce. And at least two treatment regimens of different drugs for each bacteria. I am aware that this is a gross oversimplification of tablets.

For example for an ear infection in a child they might receive *Amoxicillin 3 times a day for 7-10 days
*Zithromax once per day for 1-5 days

But I'm not sure which microbes normally cause pediatric ear infections, nor how long it takes them to reproduce.

Also if you can roll whether the drug is bactericidal or bacteriostatic I appreciate it.

Just trying to get through the hype about "chronic" lyme to find a sensible first treatment.

========
Its a long story but a friend has been diagnosed with "late" lyme disease and her doctors are arguing that a minimum of 12 months of extremely illustrious dose antibiotics are necessary (flagyl and azithromycin).

This treatment regimen is dangerous and would require her to immediately wean her daughter. She is have a lot of problems thinking and has asked for my help, the problem is here are just too many contradictory studies on Lyme disease and most are very poorly conducted.

One of her doctor's argument as to why they enjoy to treat for so long is that strep throat is treated for 10 days which is 720 "life cycles" of streptoccocal. And that 720 life cycles of Borrelia burgdorferi is about 7 months.

I'm so side tracked trying to find so oodles things out like how lyme causes damage to the brain and joint and whether that damage would continue to occur or be present after the germs is killed. For joints it seems that the microbes tries to hide by imitating the host's cells so its certainly your immune system attacking the joints and therefore continued damage isn't a sign of an stirring infection. Similarly with bacteria like pertussis the microbes releases toxins which continue to do damage long after the bacteria is gone.

I really appreciate any comfort. But yes I've read the CDC, ILADS, IDSA, and many, many other statements, many studies, etc.

I don't enjoy an answer for you but just wanted to applaud you for helping her out. I knew via her facebook status what be going on but wasn't aware of how serious it is (nor about the possible weaning) - good luck with your research.
