Zoloft for anxiety ask...?
I am 16 and I was just prescribed a low does of Zoloft for anxiety. My dad is on Zoloft and I have like condition as him so my doctor felt that if helped him so much that it would help me too. I am afraid though of the side effects. I tight-fisted do I really have anything to be afraid of, I mean if it helped my dad... Can anybody simply give me some reassurance?? Thanks!!

i'm sorry to tell you this but i took zoloft and i didn't help me, it newly made me tired alot, i wouldn't take it.
i dont know if this will re-assure you but i got put on Zoloft a couple years ago and it didnt make me have a feeling better. it made me feel NOTHING. like i would blank out completely and not say or really come up with anything. i was kind of a Zoloft Zombie. So... i dumped them down the sink.
sorry honey but that's the truth of the matter. you said you be worried about the side effects. i'm not gonna lie to you and tell you it make everything butterflies and rainbows. wouldn't you rather hear what it really does?

Unfortunately it's impossible to predict which side effects (if any) a particular individual will experience. But most of the potential side effects are pretty minor, and tend to subside after a couple weeks. Just know what the few serious side effects are, and call the doctor if any begin to develop. I've taken a very similar medication for 4 years and had no trouble with side effects, so I see no object to worry. At worst, if Zoloft doesn't work for you, the doctor can try something else. There are plenty of choices out there, and it's important to capture anxiety under control.
