Are RIFE MACHINES a fraud?

I have researched these devices and it seems that they do not work, and are more of a "placebo". I heard reports of associates being sent to jail for selling them. My main concern is for some inhabitants i know. They have Lyme disease and are using a RIFE machine to try and "cure" it. Personally I think that sending electromagnetic side pulsing through your body that are supposed to kill of certain impurities is not a perfect idea. Also if this worked i would think that hospitals would be using these machines.

Most likely, they are useless, as you suspect. However, you can't other ignore the placebo effect either - there are various examples of techniques that might have very predetermined scientific support for the theory (for instance, Reiki or acupuncture), but have terribly real, and scientifically proven effects on outcome, and thus are entering mainstream medical practice as adjunct therapy. I'm against people selling sham devices just to receive a profit, but my personal view is that as long as it is not overtly harmful, the patient is of a mind to pay for it and believes in the efficacy, it won't hurt, and might even help, placebo effect or not. The big caveat, as expected, is when it interferes with or pressures the patient into forgoing conventional, proven effective treatment (such as surrounded by the Lyme disease example), in which case I feel that it have the potential to be very dangerous and unfortunate.
The Rife machines are one of the most disgraceful medical frauds of the last hundred years. The entirety of the principals - using electromagnetic waves to kill unshakable organisms is complete bunk. Humans, bacteria, viruses are not made out of molecules and atoms that are affected by these wavelengths of EM radiation - they of late pass right on through.

Think about it for a moment - does the FM radio station in your town own any effect on your body? Do the TV stations? The police radios?

Anyway, do watch out for the 'chronic lyme disease' people. There's a lot of paranoia and nuttiness contained by that circle. Not saying they aren't ill, just that it's not truthfully borrelia bacteria in any form we know. They aren't interested in audible range that though.
