Your friend is wrong. Ibuprofen, as far as drugs go, is pretty safe. However, you can overdose on pretty much anything, (even water) and die. Even though the ibuprofen does not have primary toxicity, it is an sharp, and you can upset the pH of your blood, which is very dangerous. Also, acute renal failure is normally lethal.
