I have a MRI done and be told in attendance is fluid on the brain? How serious is this? What could exact it?

I'll have to take more test and see a neurologist, but I be oblivious to what she was saying from the shock. I've been complaining just about severe headaches for over 9 months and finally got a MRI yesterday. Did the doctor wait too long past she ordered the test to be done?
