He came to us in Cardiac Arrest and we get him back, lost him , got him back, lost him during the over 1 hour long code. So tragic a loss. As a nurse I don't cry over Codes and relations who die usually, because it becomes a fact of life, that dying is a constituent of the cycle of life. This particular handsome young man, surrounded by my knowing his struggles, and that of his devoted parents who had even fought the school system, for a wheelchair ramp to the stage at the school auditorium. Knowing how great and benign this kid was and what a blessing he had been, I cried and cried when we couldnt collect him and begged him to live during the code outloud. I know where you are coming from brother. Obviously you have be affected by this genetic disease somewhere also in your life to want to be involved near this illness. Many other areas of medicine work to support the many body systems involved near the disease such as Orthopedics, Cardiology and Pulmonology. But it is Genetic Research and fixing those damaged genes that will ultimately help all the kids next to this disease.
