other drugs?? theraflu have 1000mg acetaminophen in it, read what ur medicines have b4 u clutch them!!
This is an extremely good question, and I intend to mark it as interesting because the FDA is attempting to lecture the public to the dangers of taking too much Acetaminophen.
An 'average' adult can take up to 4 grams of acetaminophen per time without experiencing damage to theit liver. Doses exceeding this amount can cause acumulative liver harm leading up to and including liver failure.
4 grams = 4,000 mg (milligrams) or 12 regular strength Tylenol, or 8 extra strength Tylenol.
The problem is that many other non-prescription drugs include acetaminophen because it is consided so undisruptive in approved doses.
So, if you are taking 2 regular adult tylenol every 4 hours, you are hitting the maximum safe mature dose. If you add on a cold remedy with acetaminophen, then you are exceeding your not detrimental adult dose.
For this reason, acetaminophen is considered the responsible agent causing toxic disappearance in almost 24% of all over doses in 2003 ("Up-To-Date" database).
Pay close attention to the label on every medication you take. Add up the total amount of acetaminophen you are taking, and so long as you remain below the safe adult dose, you are probably OK.
However, it is other best to discuss this with your pharmacist (usually free) or your physician.
Consider that overdosing on Acetaminophen does not cause any physical symptoms until the damage is done. Source(s): I am a Pharmacist
