How do you impart an IV?
IM, IV - 750 mg every 8 hrs of cefotaxime
Dilute IV with 100 ml of 0.9% NaCl
Concentration: 30 mg/ml
Administer 15-60 min
So 750 mg of the medicine is diluted in 100 ml of 0.9% NaCl
And if its given over 60 minutes, its 100ml/hr
So you set the mechanism to 100ml/hr
But it says concentration is 30 mg/ml. What does that mean? How would one know they're getting the right concentration- 30mg/ml ?
Answers:
Actually the concentration is : 7.5 mg/ml
which is 750mg/100ml = 7.5 mg/ml
Given over 1 hour
I can't see where they are getting 30 mg/ml. The concentration can't receive up to 30 mg/ml unless you dilute it in 25 ml of saline.
