Topamax and Microgynon 30?
Hi
my doctor put me on Microgynon 30 birth control pills but since i'm on Topamax for Epilepsy, she said the birth control pills might me be less effective. i was wondering if anyone here take Microgynon 30 is also on Topamax would tell me how their expeirence with these two meds were or even if it wasn't this brand of birth control but another could u possibly mention the effect of the Topamax on the birth control pill?
i'm taking 25mgs twice a daytime (50mgs a day) of Topamax so i'm really on a low dose so i'm wondering is that really low that it might not even have an effect? i'm also taking Keppra 1500mgs a day but the Keppra doesnt have an effect on the birth control,

Topamax (topiramate) has been shown to decrease the usefulness of the estrogen portion of oral contraceptives. This has only been shown to take place at dosages of 200mg or higher per day. Lower doses have not shown any significant interactions. Source(s): Pharmacist
