Any hard-shell gum, like dentyne ice. Let it sit at the back of your throat for direct relief, then chew. Don't immediately swallow, instead permit the juices rest at the back of your throat, then swallow. This have helped me when I've been sick, and when I've just have a sore throat.
Cepacol cough drops work great on me.
