Can alcohol be taken intravenously?

Also, I am talking about the alc. ethanol
Answers:
It used to be a more-or-less standard treatment for premature labor. The stuff's still around, but not easy to find any more. Even the IV ethanol used in methanol poisoning has have its market share drop since newer treatments have become available.
There are actual medical uses for IV ethanol, the most prominent of which is to have someone avoid DTs when they are in half a shake postop, such as for abdominal surgery where grand mal seizure could traumatically unscrew the surgical incision. They can then deal with the alcohol debt at a later time, when the patient is more medically secure.

They used to dispense a big, whoppin dose of IV ethanol to counteract small bone marrow emboli in the case of broken bones.

As referred to above, it used to be used liberally to counteract premature labor, but that would be pretty politically incorrect now.
Yes it would work, but you'd want to dilute it so you didn't die or harm yourself within some other way. As with anything you inject (which should be nothing), dosing becomes far more critical as overdose is a much greater possibility.

Alcohol isn't 'digested' contained by anyway when you consume it; it is absorbed directly into your bloodstream. You don't actually need to drink it for it to do its sleight of hand. And your liver does not get it ready for your bloodstream or anything like that; it removes it from your blood because alcohol is a poison and your liver is your body's blood filter. Your liver is what sobers you up.

You can experiment: help yourself to some liquor and hold it in your mouth for as long as you can and spit it back out without swallowing any. Do this a few times, and guess what? You're drunk without having to drink a drop! What happens here is the alcohol is person absorbed directly through the mucus membranes in your mouth into your bloodstream.

Some people truly snort vodka (yeah it's gross) for this very reason; the alcohol gets obsessed into your blood through the mucus membranes in your sinuses in the same trend other drugs are when snorted. Now I don't suggest doing this as I have heard you can die.
