I want to be a doctor.?
I am a 24 year old mother of 5, I am currently attending a community college which I just begun within spring of 2009. I have a lot of support from the father of my children and my family, but sometimes I wonder if I am to elderly to be a doctor and if I will be able to with all my children. I hold wanted to be a doctor since I was about 7 years ancient so its not something I just came up with by the track I am currently a Certified Nursing Assistant / Patient Care Technician. Although I have not yet worked as a CNA aside from my clinical's and externship, I love to help those there's no other feeling like it for me. Please let me know what you muse and be honest please.

Every thing is possible,but I am sorry to say that from nursing Aid to be a doctor is a big submerge.To be qualify to get in a medical school inevitability at least 4 years in undergraduate college with premed coures and inevitability with high score.medical college is hard to get in, even be admit then take 4 more year hard study to purchase the MD degree following 3-6 years of residency training then be a doctor and medical school is particularly expensive around 200,000 .and you will be around 38 year old.But If you make up your mind then step for it.
You can do it if you really want to. Many medical schools enjoy guaranteed housing for their students, and their families (including children). Financial aide is astonishing and usually more than adequate (and if all else fail, join the military; they'll pay every dime in exchange for service). The road ahead is difficult, but if it be easy than we'd have a lot of shtty doctors running around. You will hold to move and you absolutely have to have a husband that understand that. Your family will have to live with a fixed amount of your time while your in medical school and residency, and there is no path around that. If you and your family can put up with the necessary sacrifice, later you can do it. If not, then you can't. Good luck to you.
You're not too old. I'm in pharmacy school near at least five people that are 40 years old or more.
Of course you will own at least 12 years of school to get through, but if it's what you want to do, travel for it. You're not that far behind most people that are just starting college (about 6 years). 6 years out of your unbroken life is nothing.
And 12 years of rigorous school will be economically worth it when you finish and become a physician. If you have support from your family to help pocket care of your kids, go for it. I'm 25, I have a stepson, a 2 year antediluvian son, and one on the way, and I'm getting through pharmacy school with no problem because approaching you, my wife takes care of them most of the time, allowing me to study and make dutiful grades.
Edit: Others are saying that you'll have no time to spend with your kids... Now you know it will be a huge sacrifice on several levels to be in med school, but anybody can whip a couple hours to spend some good quality time with their kids. I purloin a couple hours a day, or maybe an hour if I have a assessment the next day or something, and spend it with the kids, next to no distractions.
The financial aid is sufficient to pay for the very basics - institution, car, maybe some rent or something, but it isn't enough to be comfortable. Hopefully your husband make enough to pay for childcare, etc.
Like I said, sacrifices will inevitability to be made, but it is very possible. It is stressful, but in the end, you will know how to provide very well for your family and bring back to do what you've wanted your whole life. So as you would expect there are pro's and cons, but if you want it badly enough, you will find a agency to make it all happen.
Many doctors build it through med school with families. Don't consent to others on here make you have second thoughts, if it's what you really want.

Can you pay for childcare for say the subsequent 5-7 years.And financially doctors don't make any real money for several years after college. Youll be to busy paying your insurance& Student loans.oh yea , how much do you like seeing your children. Because you wont be seeing them much if your contained by Medical School. Have you ever thought about becoming an RN ( Registered Nurse) The pay is very capably. You'll only be looking at about 21/2 years of school. And you will hold more patient contact than you would if you were there doctor. And if that's not dutiful enough Reach a little higher and construe about Nurse Practioner. You work under a Physician, but you see and treat patients, you can order assessment and prescribe Meds. I think you should talk to a College Advisor.
