Taking like mad of ibuprofen?

So I was in a car wreck yesterday and cracked a rib. The doctor told me to bring 600-800mg of ibuprofen. That equals 3-4 pills. (They are 200mg each pill.) The bottle says not to exceed more than 6 pills a day. The doctor told me otherwise. So logically I'm listening to the doc. I took 800mg (4 pills) at like 2:30pm and I just took 600mg (3 pills) likeee 20 minutes ago? So deeply 12 hours passed in between dosages. But I got kinda dizzy just a second ago. Could it be because of the medication or not? I was just wondering because the doctor told me one thing and the bottle say another.

The capitalist will err on the side of safety when labeling the bottle so they don't get sued, but the doctor can over rule this (take responsibility) if he/she wants to establish a high threshold of the drug within your body.

If you feel dizzy again, either christen your doctor or take one less pill or do both.

Ibuprofen is for reduction of spasm and inflammation. If you can live with a little more pain, appropriate less. Ibuprofen also irritates the stomach lining, so if you are supposed to take it for a long time at a elevated does, it could cause an ulcer.

If you experience anything uncomfortable relatein seventh heavenbuprofen and your doctor is amenable, switch to another pain reliever. There are a number of different ones available with and short prescriptions.
I would think the doctor knows best.
The maximum dose of ibuprofen is 800mg every eight hours, or 2400mg per day. The bottle gives a much lower limit because it is over-the-counter and designed for use by patients minus a doctor's supervision.

You should only take high doses of ibuprofen (600 or 800 mg) on a full stomach. This will back prevent the medication from causing an ulcer.

The dizzy spell you experienced is much more likely to be a consequence of your motor accident than your ibuprofen dose. Source(s): I'm a physician.
