Why 1mg and 2mg xanax cost give or take a few equal?

i need 30 of 1mg xanax which cost 116$
however there's 30 of 2mg pills cost 128$

should i buy the 2mg one and eat half of it respectively time? will it still be the same as eating 1mg pill...anyway..why is the price so similar...shouldn't the 2mg one be twice as expensive?
Answers:
if Danielle's answer is correct then it would indeed be better for you to buy the package beside the 2mg
Buy 1/2 the quantity of the 2mg and cut them in half. . With the exception of a few medication that have a narrow therapeutic index (small discrepancies surrounded by drug content can cause a statistically significant therapeutic outcome), it is more cost effective, for the lolly customer and insurer, to purchase the higher strength. Incidentally, more and more insurance companies are reimbursing only for the higher strength and requiring the lenient to cut the dose to the prescribed strength. This could save the insurance industry billions.
Why does a 16 oz bottle of Pepsi often cost more than the 2 L bottle?
It's like peas in a pod situation.

When you buy something, you're paying for packaging, marketing, etc. The fact is, the actual chemical in Xanax is awfully inexpensive. But you're also paying for the fillers/binders in the drug, the research supporting the drug's efficacy, the bottle the pills come in, the advertising, the individuals who bottle it, etc. Probably the least expensive thing in that equation is the actual drug itself. So, whether you buy 1 mg or 2 mg tablets, the cost is going to be rather similar.
