I be prescribed prednisone for 5 days and I picked up my prescription this morning but...?
Since my doctor visit yesterday my wheezing has almost if not totally gone away (for some extraordinary reason, And I have had this wheezing for a week immediately and it disappears). I'm quite scared to take the Prednisone because of the side effects, so if my wheezing have gone away can I not take it? I haven't started the it at all, and I dont want to unless my wheezing comes back. Is this ok?

Take the prednisone. I'm guessing they give you some rescue inhalers or other medication. 5 days of prednisone is not going to harm you. There are numerous side effects from long term use of steriods. But, five days isn't going to hurt anything. Just make sure you bring it with food-best is with breakfast as it can upset your stomach. If you have both a rescue inhaler and a steroid inhaler, you might bring back by without the prednisone, but risk another, and perhaps worse, flare before the steroid inhaler begin to take effect. If you don't have the two inhalers, then the choice is even more independent.
Also, since you started out with "the wheezing has gone away," I take it you aren't keeping up next to your peak flows. You may want to ask your physician about a peak flow meter, and keeping a diary, because wheezing is solely a very, very rough guide to how well your asthma is doing.
YOu should still take the medication as prescribed, only just because you have stopped wheezing doesnt mean the underlying issue isnt still present.

The only legitimate side effects of Prednisone are a lowered immune system since it is a steroid. Just be careful while you are taking it and for a few weeks after. Wash your hands more then usual and do not rub your eyes. Most inhabitants do not know this but 75% of all cold, viruses, and infections are transferred through the eye. If you be not, you should begin the prednisone as prescribed by your physician. The chance of you experiencing a significant side effect are minimal during a 5 day course of prednisone. Those who do experience side effects are most expected on very long term treatment (COPD , arthritis). This doesn't mean you should not be wary. If you are diabetic, test more frequently because steroids can effect blood sugar even during short term treatment.
