How are PUNCTURE WOUNDS on the bottom of the foot treated?
Answers:
The wound must be thorougly cleaned and an antibiotic applied followed by a gauze wrapping. A tetanus shot is also required, if the patient has not have one in the last several years. Source(s): Neuroscientist
Very in moderation. These type of wounds are very hard to heal especially if pressure isn't kept bad the foot. The wound has to be kept clean and dry, there are several types of antibiotics avavilable for these type of begin ulcers.
If the puncture is wide, it could require stitches. Probably get some antibiotics to stave off infection, later gauze pads and medical tape to hold it in place.
The gauze will hold to be changed regularly to keep the wound clean.
You may have to be on crutches to hang on to weight off the foot, then purely wait for it to heal. Source(s): I had a foot puncture when I be ten. I was on crutches for a good part of the summer. Kind of sucked.
Antiseptic, antibiotics, and rent a pair of crutches for a couple of weeks...
