A time within the existence of a pharmacist?
What are hours like? Ever received calls off hours to come surrounded by? What are the stress levels like?
I'm interested in going to pharmacy conservatory, and plan on working in a hospital or in like a Walgreens.
Any one who can pass me any information on what it's like would be AMAZING too! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Answers:
1. If you are going to work for someone (a retailer or Hospital), then a 40 -44 hour workweek is usual;some chains like Walgreens etc, probably a bit more.
2. In any retail or Hospital, the hours could be night and/or weekends.
3. It's unusual to be called in (retail) and recurrently very possible in Hospitals.
4. Stress is not high, but here is a high volume of work, so not much time to stand around.
5. Your choice of Hospital or (chain)like Walgreens is very undecided from my point of spectacle. The differences between those are enormous. In the latter it's regular retail work, little counseling and no clinical (which is what today's Pharm Student is most trained for. In Hospitals, there is much counseling, organizing and clinical atmospheres.
contained by response to above poster, probably not gonna work more than 40 hours a week, theyd have to pay you overtime and pharmacys are cutting spinal column tech and pharmacist hours hardcore.
and as far as not doing clinical things in retail, albertsons/savon and other companies now do vaccines, medication therapy admin, cholesterol screenings, diabetes classes and what not, so you can work in retail and still counsel a lot if you really want to, depending on the chain
