I had mine removed at around 9am - stayed surrounded by hospital overnight and they encouraged me to eat dinner (a light, non fatty one) but I didn't grain up to it. I did have breakfast prior to being discharged, nothing beefy just some toast and fruit.
Once I was home I was living on toast for a few days and after give or take a few five days my diet started to return to normal, I ate what I felt I could handle.
** Tip - avoid anything fatty, greasy, bitter (like tomatoes) while you are recovering, these are things to be slowly re-introduced. I can tolerate all foods now but it did take somewhat while for my body to adjust.
I was off of work for two weeks - the first week I definietly needed off for sleeping, resting, taking it graceful but the second week I started to feel a million dollars again.
Good luck! Source(s): Experience - had this procedure in Feb 2008
