Favism and deferment of speech?

My cousin is a female which have favism .. when she was 2 and partly years old ,she ate beans and after about 60 hours she was surrounded by the ICU and having RBCs transfusion ..

Now she is 3 years and 2 months years old ..and her speech is sluggish and she can't spell a complete full word ..

Is there a coincidence that the hemolysed RBCs had caused this ?? As the oxygen delievered to the brain was reduced for copious hours causing damage to her brain ?

I don't think you can verbs about this yet based simply on her sluggish speech and not spelling a complete full word--both of these things are to be developmentally expected of 3 year-olds.
