What is an interesting topic surrounded by metabolic biochemistry?

So I decided to take on an extra credit project for one of my classes and present a topic regarding metabolic biochem. I want to research and agree about something that we havent talked about contained by class. Something along the lines of diabetes (but not that, since we focus on it so much already). I originally wanted to talk about the metabolic effects of smoking, but am have trouble finding sources. Any suggestions? I'm open to any interesting metabolic inhibitor drugs or anything else you may find interesting. I'll take any suggestions :)

Cyanide is a classic example of an inhibitor of oxidative metabolism. It inhibits the electron transport chain. I've always found that to be an interesting example. Methylene blue is used as an antidote to cyanide. Source(s): Pharmacy student
