Questions around Doxycycline?
I was just prescribed Doxycycline, and I was wondering if anyone have tried it before and had success? How long did it nick for you to notice results? I know everyone's different... blah blah blah. I'm just wondering.
Answers:
it killed me in smaller amount than 48 hours,, ooohhh i'm melting, melting
I didn't spot any results. But make sure to take it with plenty of marine. If you read the packaging, one of the side effects is "pill esophagitis" which means the pill can get stuck to your esophagus (in your throat) and slowly get through a hole away into it! This is also called an ulcer. For me it felt similar to there was something permanently stuck contained by my throat that I could feel everytime I swallowed. I had this when I took doxycycline and had to own an endoscopy (throat surgery with a tube). They cut away most of the bad part and I have to take TONS of this pink chalky medicine for WEEKS. So just please be cautious and use lots of water! It's made me paranoid for life!
Thank you for the question.
Was it prescribed for acne? What is the dosage?
ADDENDUM:
Thank you for the secondary information.
I've treated several patients with doxycycline for acne with very upright results. A low dosage of 25 mg twice daily can result in significant clearing of the acne within one month, and absolutely by month #3. But, as you said, individual results do vary.
I wish you well. Source(s): My remote medical training.
The side effect of a third nipple, was not greeting.
Other then that,I was coughing up blood, all dark.
Golly,we take so many pills,it's had to vote what's curing and what's killing
Dr. Clint has an excellent answer as usual! I'll simply add that I take it for ocular roseacea -- deeply my eyelids produce an excess of oil and my eyes were always irritated. For years I a short time ago attributed it to working in a stressful situation (hospital unit) and lack of sleep. Then an ophthalmologist friend made the diagnosis in 5 second! At any rate, it has worked well. Do take it next to food though as others have mentioned. You may notice an increased sensitivity to sun -- meaning you will sunburn more effortlessly -- so use suntan lotion with a good SPF. Source(s): RN and doxy user
