Western tablets Versus Homeophathic remedies - which two should we choose?
For this assignment, we have to choose two legal drugs in use today and find their alternatives used beforehand they existed.
Which drugs are good to do this assignment on?
I thought Echinacea, at first (helps with period pain) but my stepdad said it would be obedient to do it on like a HIV drug or something, or Tamiflu.
What are some good suggestions?
Thanks!
Answers:
Try tamoxifen for breast cancer and
phenobarbitols for epilepsy. I enjoy NO idea what their alternatives were before they existed.
How about:
Aspirin - Willow tree bark was used beforehand it was discovered that aspirin was the active ingredient.
Foxglove - The sap be used before its active ingredient, digitalis, was discovered.
Hm. Here's a good one.
Syphilis. The treatment for it is an injection of penicillin. Historically, it be treated with Salvarsan (an arsenic based compound) around the turn of the century. Prior to that, it was treated by ingesting or skin applications of fluid mercury.
HIV is not a particularly good choice. The virus was solely found in the 1980s, and the disease didn't exist at all before the turn of the century contained by humans.
Uh, AIDS/HIV wasn't around when homeopathic remedies be used...
I'd suggest something like a painkiller for one of 'em. :)
