How is it similar to to be an anesthesiologist?
Hello, I'm a High School Sophomore who is interested in anesthesiology. I have all honors classes and AP Chemistry, I would approaching to know how the schooling and how the job is overall. It would be great to get answers from real anesthesiologists.

I enjoy news for you. You do NOT decide to be an anesthesiologist until you are finishing medical school. You settle on to be a PHYSICIAN, because that is what we are, first and foremost.
The educational process is grueling, and you can prepare to be treated like crap throughout med university and residency.
Once you get through that, however, the job itself is fascinating (to me and my colleagues, anyway), and the lone abuse we have to take is from the surgeons we work next to, and the occasional rude patient. (But we know how to deal with them!)
Be prepared to work terribly hard. If you get into medical school, you'll probably transfer your mind about anesthesia, but that's OK. You can't possibly know what you want to do until you try it on for size. When you find your specialty, you'll know it.
