Is nicotine more poisonous afterwards arsenic?
I saw a special on the the history channel and I heard this. I'm having trouble believing it though.

It depends on what Arsenic you are conversation about. There is organic As and inorganic As. If you are talking roughly speaking organic As, then yes, nictotine would be more lethal than the Arsenic, however if you are conversation about inorganic As, then the answer is no.
The organic As would be what is found contained by most seafood. If you were to have your whole blood taster tested for As levels today and then go munch through some seafood tonight and have your whole blood tested again the next morning, you would have a higher As level, but, it would most possible be the organic form which your body can easily deal beside.
The inorganic As would be what is found in a lot of old pesticides. It is also used to treat wood and surrounded by other manufacturing processes. If you were to be exposed to a significant amount of this inorganic As, then you would be within some serious trouble. I had a patient once who bought an old sheep farm house and while checking out the property he went into a barn. He climbed up the ladder to the loft and felt around and when his hand landed on a bag he pulled the bag closer to the loft crack so that he could see what it was without having to stir all the way up there. When he did the purse tore and white powder rained all over him. It got within his eyes, mouth, throat and all over his skin. He just went rear legs to his new home to take a shower, thinking it was no big agreement. Several days later he became very below par and his As levels were so high, that his blood token had to be diluted by a factor of 5000 just to get it inwardly the ICP-MS's linear range. He was started on chealation therapy right away, but unfortunatley did not engender it.
So maybe that will give you a good theory of just how different the two are, and see that there is no way nicotine would be more toxic than the inorganic....however it could easily be more toxic than the organic As. Source(s): Toxicologist
