Marine have acl surgery... does that parsimonious medical discharge?
I'm a marine that tore his acl and just had surgery to repair it. I resembling being in the Marine corps but I don't want to risk having serious knees problems that could occur from being too active on a a moment ago rehabilitated knee once I'm done going through therapy and everything. i mean it's my enthusiasm and my body and I don't want to ruin the rest of my life and live it in more pain than I already am going to enjoy. Is there any possible way that I can request to be medically discharged because of this? All answers greatly appreciated.

Semper Fi! I got out a few years myself. I hurt my rear and was up for medical discharge, luckily my CO knew I was close to my EAS and permit me get out normally. If your close to your EAS, then I would only stick it out. But if your not you may be able to get out on medical discharge. It depends a lot on your CO and medical staff. Good luck!

You can draw from a profile change to limit your activity until you hold healed well. If you do get discharged, I suggest you construct them give you a Medical Discharge. Trying to get established with the VA can be frustrating- the burden of proof will be on you to prove your problem is service-connected. Friend of mine be shot 5 times, bayonetted twice in Vietnam. He took a regular discharge, but later got ache and pains and went to the VA. They told him he had never been surrounded by Vietnam. I had to talk him out of killing someone. FInally have to produce his unit's history which mentioned his wounds when he got them, to establish service-connection.
