What is the difference between Normal saline and sterile hose down?

This is a question for Microbiology. In order to dilute serum AX I need to attach normal saline solution to it to turn it into BX. Why is normal saline used instead of sterile water? BX is for an injection for a tot. What would happen if sterile water was used? Please backing.
Answers:
You would use saline because it is essentially salt water but has duplicate ph as blood. Sterile water (if enough is used) can actually basis a red blood cell to explode.
Normal saline or 0.9% NaCl solution is approximately the same osmolarity as the serum, so it's not so much an issue of pH but rather osmolarity. By using sterile water, osmosis will raison d`¨ētre water to enter cells and cause lysis. For this sense normal saline is used frequently in clinical medicine. It's a kind hydrating agent. Sterile water is not used for fluid resuscitation in a dried out patient.
