What side effects are cause by coming bad Prednisone?
I was recently given Prednisone for a short time to assistance with nasal polyps. This isn't the first time I've taken it. The doctor kept asking if I had any trouble coming off of it later time. I didn't.
What type of trouble do people usually experience? Is it anything serious?
This time, I accidentally stopped abruptly. I took it for the first 5 days as I was supposed to, but instead of bit by bit lowering the dosage, I forgot to keep taking it and stopped all together. I haven't had any distinct problems. It's been about 5 days now since I ultimate took it.
The reason I'm wondering is because my parents and the doctor have made a big deal going on for coming off of it. When I asked my parents if stopping abruptly was bleak, they said yes. When I asked why, they said it was because Prednisone is a steroid.
Saying that doesn't mean much to me. I really don't know much about steroids.
When I tried looking it up on google, I mostly found that relatives were achy. I didn't find much else.
I just wanted to sort sure I'm not doing any massive damage... haha

You shouldn't really have any problem once you're not on a maintenance dose (daily dose). Short courses don't usually cause a reverberation of symptoms. If, for example, you had sarcoidosis and were on a dose of prednisolone for a year, then if you brief stopped taking it eg car accident, and no one know you were on it your body would have difficulty producing its own steroids to treat your stress and you might die. Typically, if you carry a steroid card/bracelet you'd be put on i/v hydrocortisone 100 mg four times on a daily basis to mimick the levels your body produces under stress- yes, your body can itself produce the equivalent of 80 mg prednisolone/day after a severe accident! Does that put your steroid use surrounded by perspective?
Most of the time there will be no problems coming off of it straight away but I wouldn't do it. Every individual I've ever known has had to be weaned rotten of prednisone.
You may be achy or sick to your stomach, it depends on how long you had taken the medication.
After a short course (which normally isn't tapered, and ethnic group do just stop) it's not uncommon for the condition that required its use to flare a little. In your satchel, that would probably be runny/stuffy nose.
i doubt massive damage is anything you have to verbs about... and 5 days is pretty much putting you in the clear. my g/f stopped taking this abruptly and get every symptom of withdrawl/whatever it is you could imagine. you COULD have had seizure, panic attacks, drops in blood pressure, etc etc - but like i said, i dream up youre pretty much clear of that threat by now.
you dont want to find out the answer to this, so i would recommend listening to your doctor in the adjectives.
