Is Lexapro a out of danger antidepressant ? Does it REALLY work ?

I was prescribed Lexapro and I'm scared to death to nick it. I don't use pills and never have, they scare me because of all the recall and death associated with taking meds. If you have used it, how have it helped YOU personally ?

i construe lexapro is great. it has really helped me deal next to anxiety attacks as well as mild depression. it balanced out the feelings of one out of control and anxious. if your doc suggested it..probably a good idea to step with it. I wouldnt worry about it hurting you!! the benefits outweigh the risks!
Sure. It's a great drug And no, it will not kill you.

Lexapro is a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, and it chemically allows your brain to use serotonin, which people who are depressed can't do surrounded by amounts large enough to maintain a sense of well-being.

If your doc scripted this med for you, it probable is because you are depressed to the point that you function poorly at work, in your relationship and with your family and friends.

All anti-depressants work alike way. Some work better for some people than do others..

And no, it has no aptitude to kill you.

I have had several friends who enjoy taken this or some other drug, or started with this one, kept in contact with their doc, and he tweaked it or changed it to something else.

The hope beside an antidepressant is that it will take the edge off of your anxiety, and allow you to consistency better.... content.

These meds don't work well in the presence of alcohol, however, or mj, or meth or other illegal or even legally recognized substances.

If for example, you are diagnosed with bipolar, drinking and taking these put you back to square one.

Helping people beside chemical brain imbalances is tricky. So, if you are a drinker, you won't find this, or any other anti-depressant very helpful.

Hi!

I was prescribed Lexapro a few years ago. I generally am always sunny and happy but a few years back I get in this funk and couldn't get out. I was also have these weird attacks like when I went to sleep I would quality like I was going to stop breathing...sometimes I would feel wobbly...and would get a tingling sensation in my fingers and around my mouth...the doctor said I was have anxiety attacks. So he said lexapro was best for me it would help with the funk I be in and also curb any anxiety attacks I could possibly have.

Well when I started taking in roughly 3 weeks in I felt it was a sleight of hand drug! The reason why is that I didn't feel like I be drugged or anything and I didn't feel like I was acting close to a zombie or anything but I felt so calm and at peace...it was unnatural but super cool. My mind started to think about things more clearly and I was competent to slow down the chatter (worrying) that was in my head and really concentrate on more crucial things. My overall well being improved drastically and I started to really draw from better.

I did notice after I had been taking it awhile....if I would miss a pill or forget to bring my prescription refilled in time...I would get totally light headed and dizzy. If I took my pill everyday as I was suppose to I would be fine...but sometimes I would forget and later get really dizzy. I didn't like the fact that I have to rely on taking the pill to feel normal and that not taking it would make me perceive weird so I talked to the doctor about weaning me stale.

He agreed and said that Lexapro as with most anti depressents aren't for permanent use...they are to be used temporarily and then after 6 months, a year, or two you can reevaluate how you consistency and slowly come off of the drug.

I have been rotten of Lexapro now for a couple years and feel great. I really am glad I took it when I did though because it showed me that i can feel better and it skilled me to slow down and not worry so much. I figured if a drug could make me do it I could train myself to do it on my own.

I would outstandingly recommend taking Lexapro but I wouldn't stay on it for more than a year or two. Of course talking with your doctor would be the best bet! But yes in answer to your quiz it REALLY does work...and it works well!

Good Luck!

Harmony :o)
I wouldnt prohibit the medication, but if you're not comfortable ask to change to a different medication if you're having concerns.
