Reaction to Lidocaine Epidural?
I had a Lidocaine epidural in labour and my heart rate dropped so they be giving me ephedrine. It didn't feel very nice and just wondered if anyone know about this kind of reaction. Is it typical?

It's probably your blood pressure that dropped first, and it is a completely normal and expected response. That is why we always have ephedrine and/or phenylephrine drawn up and in position to go.

i think you mean to right to be heard that your blood pressure dropped.
its normal. usually, before the epidural, youre loaded with IV fluids to try and counteract this effect. if the fluids arent adequate, then you may get some meds to constrict your blood vessels. this raise your blood pressure, solving the problem.
