On 2 instances I have been misdiagnosed and found the correct information on the internet.

I don't see anything wrong near people saving doctors time with diagnosis.
Not in genuineness, no. I think most people recognise that it doesn't matter how much information you hold gleaned from a website, it doesn't give you the science, knowledge and experience behind it. Having medical practice does not make you a Doctor.

Although your symptoms may 'fit' with a certain disease or ailment on a website, there are other factors Doctors will look for and in some cases, hold a 'feel' for.

The health websites aren't wrong, thats not what I am saying, but such websites should be used by patients to gain better knowledge and conception of an illness or condition they have,- they shouldn't be used to self-diagnose. The websites are no substitute for an examination/consultation in character by a qualified Doctor who has both knowledge and experience in medication. Source(s): Cardiac Nurse

There's never been a shortage of people who reflect on they know more than they do, or that others know less. And anyone who thinks his internet search will "educate" his physician pretty powerfully deserves whatever he gets.
I do not devise so. I look for information on modern treatment that the NHS is falling behind on.
The GP problem in my experience is the PCT take over of our GP Surgeries. In my surgery my excellent Doctor moved out and itinerant Doctors moved surrounded by. I never know which Doctor I shall see.
I believe that American medical business is cashing in on the NHS.

I have to agree with Rhianna on this one, as a health contemplation professional i will admit right up front i am no doctor and just because i have a pious working knowledge of human anatomy and health care within general i still don't have the skills a good GP would enjoy. The new internet health craze has spawned a social group of web-o-chondriacs who think they can diagnose their disease with the click of a mouse. If only those could realize that a good GP with years of experience and work with in actual fact sick patients is way more accurate than webmd.com. Don't get me wrong i am as guilty as the next when it comes to getting an sting in my foot or a pain in my lead and looking it up online before getting to my GP but i realized that by going online i cause myself undue stress and i hurdle to conclusions of rare and unfamiliar diseases before i walk to my doc and find out i just sprained something or stubbed my toe, lol. I do think it's nice that the info is out there for non-health orient people to educate themselves but i do feel lots of ethnic group take it to far. I think if used in conjunction beside the professional GP's patients have, the internet can be a useful tool. But in the hand of web-o-chondriacs i feel the internet will give good GP's a massive headache. Source(s): Health Care Worker,MLT(ASCP)
I found it drastically helpful when I had a severe problem, it gave me more info than my Doctor did. Problem be she did not like me knowing more about it than she was ready to tell me.
